What is Empathy ?

What Is Empathy ?

Empathy is the ability to see the world as another person, to share and understand another person’s feelings, needs, concerns and/or emotional state.  Empathy is important for our society because it is what facilitates our interactions and our connection to the many other people around us. Empathy is what helps to build a happy, successful and positive community.

An example of empathy is, “If you are talking to someone, and suddenly he/she tells you something emotional, such as "I just lost my job." How do you respond? Respond with empathy, and you will greatly improve your relationship with the other person. But respond as if you do not really care, you could ruin the relationship.”

Its important to show empathy because he/she needs to feel like someone actually cares about their problem or/and about them. People in the world feels sometimes alone, confused, hated. Empathy can change that and it can change someone.

Learning about empathy is an amazing thing. I believe Empathy can change the world.
